Night texting and homework
I am sure parents of teenagers often wonder how much homework is being done when kids go into their room after dinner and say: “I am doing homework”.
Is it similar to when we were at school and our parents wouldn’t let us watch TV and do our homework?
So, should we make the kids leave their phone with us while they do homework? I think this may definitely be necessary for some students. I guess it is making sure the kids understand that there is a time and place for everything. They need to know when focus is needed and distractions must be reduced. Can you trust them to have their phone on silent?
Hopefully, you can work out balance with your teen and just remind them of the privilege to have a phone. Some teens would feel it is a necessity, but it is far from this – especially if it is interfering with more important life choices!!
“You have to repeat this year of school – yeah didn’t do homework properly and my assignments were not finished!”
