Sleeping on train
I think nearly everyone who has been on a train has seen someone sleeping on or in a train!
I wonder how many people have missed their stop because they have been asleep? I have even seen others wake people because they would have missed their stop.
Some people sleep anywhere and it is probably their time to do a catch-up sleep. This might be the reason they catch the train or bus!
So do others on the train have to be extra quiet if you are asleep? What if others want to use their phone or have a conversation or sing! I was recently on the train in Brisbane on a weekday morning travelling away from the City and a young girl (about 19-years-old) was singing away.
I don’t feel comfortable sleeping on a train – I am not very trusting of others. It is a terrible feeling though when you are nodding off though – it is hard to stop.
If you do fall asleep:-
* set your watch or phone alarm so others do not have to wake you.
* Make sure you are only taking up your seat.
* Don’t get annoyed if it is not the perfect environment to sleep – it is a busy commuting train!
* Wake a stop or two before your stop so you are alert.
* Keep your possessions close by.

A while ago I was on a half full train coming home from an Army training camp. I hadnt slept much for a while and quickly fell asleep. The train set off a few of those little detonators they used to put on the tracks to warn track workers that trains were coming. I awoke with a fright, rolled onto the floor and yelled “CONTACT”
