If you’ve ever wanted to go camping more often but don’t fancy sleeping rough, there is good news in the form of glamping, otherwise known as ‘glamorous camping’.
Now, for those who have never heard of glamping (granted, I hadn’t heard of it myself until a couple of weeks ago!), all I’m talking about here is a luxurious camping experience that is much more up-market than the average ‘tent in field’ option.
Glamping is a fantastic idea for a hen do or a similar ‘girls only’ event and it was my big sister who first told me about the idea as she mentioned she fancied doing something different to celebrate her hen do next year.
The concept of glamping is that you get to experience all the quirks of regular camping but without having to pitch tents and sleep uncomfortably. Of course nobody said going to a glamping site was cheap but from what I have researched, it’s certainly great value for money for what you get.
So what can you expect from a typical glamping site package? Well, the tents are all beautifully decorated with bright colours and fabrics to instantly give that designer aesthetic. The interiors are often lavishly kitted out with authentic air mattresses, bedding and even furniture meaning that you can feel right at home whilst on your mini-break. There is even fully functional appliances and sockets so you can charge your smart phone, plug in your laptop or use your hair dryer. Of course there are many outdoor activities to choose from on-site such as hiking, safari groups and adventure trails but without a doubt, the focus of glamping is the comfort of guests. The advantages are many, as with such a luxurious type of camping you don’t have to worry about bringing bags of food, cooking utensils and sleeping bags, this is all provided within the package.
The idea of glamping is inspired by the young, rich and famous. Several adventure groups saw an opportunity to cater to the needs of campers who wanted to experience the positive aspects of camping without having any negative factors to put them off. By all means it’s not cheap to go on one of these trips which is why my sister has asked me to prepare myself and save up in advance for next year. Prices tend to start at around £50 per night and can range anywhere up to £250 per night, depending on the time of year, location and what the package includes. If you have a large group of ladies looking to experience a stylish camping trip, this is definitely a bonus when it comes to booking.
I would certainly like to go to one of the many beautiful glamping sites here in the UK as I can’t say I have made a habit out of going camping in the past, so this would be an appealing way to introduce me to it again. If you’re a fan of the outdoors, I would highly recommend booking that long weekend off work, rounding up your favourite girl friends and taking that overdue trip to get involved in something truly unique – go glamping!
