I love going out for breakfast and probably because breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. I love it when I stay in hotels and I am fortunate to have the buffet breakfast. This morning I was at home and I was invited to breakfast and I was looking forward to delicious pancakes. I am quite health conscious so food is important to me and when I feel like a certain thing – it is important I have it and it is fresh and includes some healthy options!
The cafe we chose today was in Redcliffe, about 50 minutes north of Brisbane. The cafe overlooks the water and it is in a beautiful spot. This is the third time I had been to this cafe in three weeks. Previously I was so impressed with the food and the service. Today, however, I was so disappointed.
I remembered last time I ordered and egg and bacon roll because the pancakes were not available. Apparently the cafe had enlisted a new supplier and there were complaints so they stopped serving pancakes. I must admit when I found out they didn’t cook the pancakes on site I was a little shocked, however, I thought they bought the mixture pre-made and just had to cook the pancakes.
After a week had passed I just thought the pancakes would be back in motion. Well, today pancakes was back on the menu and served with berries and yoghurt – just like I asked. As soon as I looked at the pancakes, when put in front of me (three round, golden pancakes) I suspected these were like the ones sold in Coles and Woolworths – pre-packaged. I was not impressed. I asked the young waiter and he confirmed my query and said he would send the boss out. When the boss came out she was not professional at all. I told her I did not go to a cafe for breakfast to have pre-packaged pancakes. She said I should have asked before I ordered and I could not have anything else. She then changed her mind after I said I would tell my friends and when I decided I was no longer hungry – I even managed to get my $10 back – after an initial ‘no’. Two hours later I managed to find amazing Pancakes at The Coffee Club and I was no longer craving fluffy, softy, real pancakes!
