What age is the right age
A sleepover at a friend’s home is always a special thing to do and can be really exciting. I think to make sure it is a fun experience wait until you think your child is ready and confident. Some children start sleep overs at 6-years-old and others when they are older. It is a personal choice and there is no right or wrong age.
I think it is vital both children’s parents meet and possibly even chat about the expectations. Ask yourself:
1. Do you know the other child and their parents?
2. Are you comfortable chatting and telling the parents about any allergies/fears your child has?
3. Do you need to share any special information. For example: Johnny finds it really hard to sleep before 8.30pm; Any drinks after 7pm pose as a problem during the night!
4. Make sure contact details are swapped.
5. You could ask what the plans are for the evening during the sleepover.
You are never too old for a sleepover!
