This seems crazy, but studies have proven people with more friends and intimate relationships are happy and live longer – so if this is the case go out and get some friends! People who are married or in a defacto relationship have lower death rates than single people. So, having more friends will help make you happy because you will have a good social life, worth ethic, you will eat well and ultimately sleep well. So, next time you think: “why do I bother with her or him” – now you know why.
What does having more friends really mean (and how do I do it):
– meeting new people is exciting; or it can be and we need to let it be.
– you need to like yourself first
– give people the benefit of the doubt
– treasure special moments with friends
– don’t sweat the small stuff
– teach your child (set a good example) about how to be a good friend
– everyone wants to be liked and that is a good thing
– there are ways to make friends
– try new things and try to have an open mind about meeting new people
– nobody purposely sets out to upset others
– some friendships do expire and then new ones come along
– couples need friends too – as a couple and separately
What having new friends doesn’t mean:
– keeping that highly toxic friend who is bad for your health
– you need loads of friends – just one or two quality ones
– you need to stress about having few friends
