The worries children hold
If we are okay then our children will be okay. If we show children how to respect friends and treat them, then hopefully children will follow our good example.
I hear so many stories about kids being cruel to other kids. Children see bullying as power and they think this is what works. We have to change this thinking in our children and teach them there is no room for bullying.
Parents have a huge responsibility to be rational and show children how to be courteous, respectful, friendly, honest and so much more.
Nobody is perfect, but just check the example you are setting. Adults can say things and joke, but if a child hears that…is this passing on the incorrect message?
Every parent wants their child to be spoken about as the ‘lovely boy’ or ‘lovely girl’ and be the one who gets invited to parties and is liked by teachers.
A book for parents and educators on school bullying
This book attempts to show how parents and educators can work together to reduce bullying at school and the associated distress which many children experience. This distress can display itself in so many different ways, such as sleep issues, anxiety, depression and more.
It has been acclaimed by distinguished researchers in the field in England, Norway and the United States.
It can be obtained from the publisher, John Wiley, see www.johnwiley.com.au/trade, or through Amazon or your local bookshop.
