Everyone has some crazy mornings. Lately, while my mornings have been busy, they have also been quite successful. I have managed to let my daughter have a little catch up on sleep. We have lots of fruit for breakfast and a healthy lunch box. I also look quite respectable as I take her to school and sometimes our pup comes for a walk.
Some people have a coffee first thing in the morning, however, I often like to have it after the rush. Well this morning, much to my disgust…in my last mouthful – YES last- I felt something a bit like a giant crumb. This may have been okay (and gone unnoticed) if I had of had a muffin with my coffee (but I didn’t). Anyway I spat the coffee back in the cup (yes I know… not sure what I would have done if I was dining at an exquisite place!)and then I saw a black object. I grabbed it out of the last mouthful of coffee in the cup and yes it was a disgusting dead fly…a dead fly. Oh how gross, gross, gross.
If I had of been half way through my coffee, I definitely would have tipped the whole lot out. I know some people don’t care and well some cultures eat flies!
After this terrible ordeal I had lots and lots of rinses and then drank lots of water. Now it seems like I have a bad taste in my mouth. I am not worried about sickness because the truth is if we new everything about the food we ate we would probably be a bit shocked. Ignorance to some level is probably ok because it is actually knowing and seeing gross things that is gross – it is harder to get disgusted by ‘what-ifs’.
Some people may feel sorry for the fly. Why did he commit suicide? I have no idea. I would have been happy not to be involved!
Quiz about finding a fly in your coffee:
A man found a fly in his coffee and he immediately sent his coffee back to the kitchen. When the waiter returned with a new cup of coffee the man thanked him. The man took a sip and immediately knew that the waiter had just removed the fly and given him back the same cup of coffee. How did the man know this?
Answer
Before the man had noticed the fly, he added sugar to his coffee. Therefore, because the coffee was sweet, the man new it was his original coffee.
