Off to Grandma’s house
“Where will I sleep at Grandma’s house Mummy?” “Grandma might have a spare room, a cosy mattress set-up or a place for you in her room.” Mummy said.
“What will I take to Grandma’s house Daddy? I know: My pyjamas, teddy, toothbrush and what I made for Grandma.”
“How many sleeps til I go to Grandma’s house Mummy?” “Two sleeps Sweet”, Mum said.
Going to Grandma’s house for a visit is exciting for most children. Some children get to sleep where their Mum or Dad slept when they were little. Grandma’s house often has a smell like no other house. And Grandma’s often cook or buy special things for their Grandchildren to eat. Grandmas and Grandpas can also spend a lot of time with their Grandchild and this is fun for everyone.
Some grandparents take on the role of looking after their grandchildren while the parent works. If this works for all parties involved then everyone is a winner. I think an initial meeting would be advisable so everyone knows what to expect and what is to be expected. In this case sleepovers can still be special. Maybe the grandparents might do different activities or have a special outing with the grandchild.
Another great thing about Grandma’s is they often write real old fashioned letters! Still great to receive mail!

Grandma’s love having grandchildren stay over it’s fun for everyone and reminds you of when your own children were small. Children love to recieve a letter , just as adults do.
