The before bed clean up
I have heard people say they could never go to bed without doing the dishes. I mostly agree with this and I like give the house a quick tidy up before bed. It is much nicer in the morning to wake up to a clear kitchen and tidied up lounge area.
If there are times I can’t complete the dishes I do rinse the dishes to make the kitchen look ordered. If the kitchen is ordered the rest of the house seems much more organised. I think everyone would be surprised how little time it takes. Time yourself and if ten minutes is all you can give…that is a good start.
Really it does depend whether one is a morning person or not. If you are a person who wakes early, and has time to clean up before you leave the house, then leaving the mess for the morning might work.
Get everyone in the family to help and do their bit. One person could do the dishes, another clear the table, another sweep and tidy up the cushions. It will get to the point where it is part of the nightly routine and not so much a chore.
I often think the more I get done in the evening the less I have to do during the day. Putting washing away is another favourite chore I do at night. I think at night there are less interruptions so doing some chores can be easier.
At the end of the day if you have had a huge day and can’t possibly spend ten minutes in the kitchen then it is okay….hopefully the late night fairy will pitch in.
