There are many different types of juices on the market and the more expensive ones are probably easier to use and clean. And the leftover pulp well there are plenty of recipes to put that to good use and not waste!!!
However, if we don’t want healthy eating to be stressful because that is not good for our health either; we need to weigh up the best options!
The best way to think about health I think is eating a good balanced diet of meat, dairy and carbohydrates (rice, bread, pasta), avoid unnecessary fats (cutting of meat fats for example and avoiding butters and sauces when not necessary) and have the occasional treat (handful size of chips, a couple of lollies, or a piece of choc).
I know some people mind find it very easy to eat absolutely wholegrain foods and never have anything remotely considered bad (white rice, raw sugar, cows milk), however, research is always continuing on the best foods and I think that is why we always get back to eating in moderation and clearly fresh is best so avoiding too much packaged goods is best!!
Our bodies are different and we get to know what our bodies need. A lot of people take vitamins, however, some believe if your body is getting a balanced diet then it has no need for extra nutrients and one theory is the body discards it.
Anyway, back to the cheap orange juicer is the best: A bag of oranges costs on average about $5 for 3 kilos. And two oranges in a cheap K-Mart juicer (under $20) makes a scrumptious glass of juice. And then you can have the rest of your fruit for a morning tea and afternoon tea snack and your vegetables with dinner. My goal is to have all of the colours every day – regarding fruit and vegetables (green, purple, white, red, orange).
So, keep it simple is my motto and consider cost so you are able to keep the healthy eating as part of your everyday!
For those keen to use the juicer to have a carrot, ginger, celery, orange juice and have left over pulp, the following website provides ideas so the pulp is not wasted – mixing it with the kids’ macaroni is one!
