Pets and exercise and sleep
Pets are the biggest motivation for a healthy life. The human must take the initiative, however, it often isn’t too hard to motivate animals as they love attention. Dogs can learn at any age, and like humans, it’s just old habits that are hard to break! Studies have shown that people who own pets live longer, have less stress, and have fewer heart attacks.
Generally, pet obesity is managed through gradually reducing food intake and increasing exercise. Another thing we have in common! – Playing with your pet regularly is a good way to give them exercise.
The most popular pets are dogs and cats, but there are also rodent pets, birds reptile pets and aquatic pets.
Most dogs love walks any time of day or night. I have even heard of people walking their cats.
If you have a fish they might not motivate you to get physical. You could talk to the fish and interact whilst cleaning the house!
Horses encourage you to groom and ride and chickens encourage you to clean their area and be physical in that way.
And to build up your bond with your pet – if your dog has a rest or sleep after a long walk….maybe you could too!!
A lot of people allow their dog or cat to sleep with them. If the animal doesn’t obstruct sleep in any way then it is a personal choice. A lot of people who have trouble sleeping do have their pet in their bed and often don’t see this as one of the possible causes to investigate. On a positive note some people feel safer and calmer with a pet in the bed.
Pet facts:
* A cat’s brain is more similar to a human’s brain than that of a dog.
* A cat sees about 6 times better than a human at night.
* While a dog’s memory lasts no more than 5 minutes, a cat’s can last as long as 16 hours.
* A dog’s nose has about 4 times as many scent cells as a cat’s and 14 times more than a human’s.
* Dogs have about 100 different facial expressions, most of them made with the ears.
* Many hamsters only blink one eye at a time.
* A goldfish can live up to 40 years.

That’s what I’m talking about. Dog exercise, when done right, should end up with a dog at the end of the day that looks like that! Heck, when I work out well during the day (more than 30 minutes), I sleep well at night and wake up feeling good. Dogs do too. And we LOVE sleeping with out dog. This is what my dog looks like in the pm after a 40 minute morning run https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-f7Q5RbOf4H4/UCLJIn3kNaI/AAAAAAAAAOY/9b7wCCW7GiY/s1111/IMG_20120808_154907.jpg
