Dating is scary for most people and when they put themselves out there and chat to someone and they say: “I’ll text you, tomorrow,” and they don’t – how low. How hard is it to send a text or even call (if you are super decent) and say: It was lovely talking to you, but I am not feeling the connection. To just stop texting because they have lost interest or found someone else or were really not originally interested, but said they’d text anyway, is not nice. The best thing is probably not say you are going to text, even if it rolls of your tongue as an easy way for you to end the conversation!
All I can say to those people on the other end – thank goodness you found out now, about their lack of commitment, and not 6 months or 2 years from now! For those people in relationships, who are a little suss on some things and the texting excuses seem to be an issue – ask them up-front. Honesty is vital in a relationship if it’s going to work and I believe an excuse is in the deceitful family!
I think the problem is, texting is one of the easiest things humans now do in the 21st century. It’s not like someone said, they’d drop round a 5-layered cake – just a text! So, basically there are no excuses. Sometimes, the text may be later than you said or differ in some way due to life’s happenings, but to drop off the face of the earth and not text at all – NO.
The sad things is people are waiting for people’s text. People feel happy when they hear the noise their phone makes when a message has been received. Those, extra sweet, unexpected texts of a little smiley or a love heart can brighten someone’s day.
I know there are some people out there, that do the right thing and more and hopefully this etiquette can be filtered through to those who need a little help!
I know we have all heard the excuses, but here are a few, just for laughs!
1. My phone was flat.
2. I couldn’t find my phone.
3. Someone else hid my phone.
4. I was out of credit
5. I accidently deleted some numbers and yours was one of them!
6. I thought it was too late to send a good night text.
7. I didn’t want to wake you.
8. I was too tired.
9. I worked late.
10. I did – didn’t you get it?!
