The sleep team: Sometimes we are having a great time and we never want it to end, however, other times we can’t wait to hide from the world. To have a good day or night is a choice and yes to have a bad day or night is a choice too.
A bad day for some might be not getting that work project completed, a fight with Mum, losing a piece of jewellery, finding out a partner is cheating, yelling at our children, not getting a good night text – whatever it is – the night time does bring some sort of solace to us all. This might be because we have more options at night. We can go home and hide and sleep it off or we can go out and go home late and sleep off the night out! If we are having a bad day at work – we normally can’t just leave!
Sleep can be an escape or a time to switch off your brain, a time to stop crying, a time to stop yelling. Just imagine a life without sleep and life just continuing: with disasters; this is how much we need our sleep time. When it is sleep time only a few things can now go wrong!
Of course there are great things that happen, but often people feel like they deserve to party or celebrate in some way. If you have had a fantastic day, but it is now bed time and you are too excited and are disappointed that there isn’t a better offer – plan your happy day celebrations better next time! If people have had a perfect day and night times comes too quickly, their mood could change to a low very quickly.
I guess, the real message here is a bad day doesn’t mean your night has to be miserable. A bad day is disappointing, but it is just one day and tomorrow will be a better day. And a good day doesn’t mean we must go out and be the centre of attention. We can celebrate in our own little way and maybe this is an early night to some! And a bad day to one person is an okay to others or a good day to others. Ask yourself the following: Does your day have to be bad? What positive things came out of your day? Are you just focussing on the bad things? The people who had a good day are probably focussing on more of what you need to be! Allow your day to be a good day and a good night and push away the negative thoughts that society can label a bad day or a good day.
Losing a job might be a positive because there is a better job around the corner.
Finding our you partner is cheating is great because you now know why your friends have been uncomfortable around you (they knew).
Yelling at your kids may make you realise you need to make some positive household changes – to benefit the whole family.
And finally why do we have to label a good day bad and a bad day good – it was just the day we needed to have!
