The sleep team: Everyone talks about it and everyone can do it if they so wish – because it is holidays! What is it you ask – SLEEP IN!
If you choose to get up earlier to attend holiday activities that is your choice and a great holiday choice for you. Some people want to sleep-in every day of their holidays and that is their choice. Holidays means people can have choice and this is a great free feeling.
Remember – just before your holiday ends leave a day or two to get organised for your school or working life again. This is important for parents to understand. If you return from holidays with the kids and the next day it is school and go, go, go, the kids will struggle. Kids probably need an extra day or two than you need.
Hopefully, after a holiday of your choice, you will feel refreshed. Some people often say they need a ‘holiday from a holiday’. Unfortunately, while this means they have squeezed a lot in – it possibly means too much. Don’t over do it or your return to work or school will be a very difficult transition.
It might be a good idea to plan your holiday so you get out of it what you need and want. This might seem a little like being at work or school, however, it is really just a good organisational step. An example of a holiday plan:
Day 1 – Sleep-in and finish off house jobs
Day 2 – Morning walk and lunch with friends
Day 3 – Fun park
Day 4 – sleep-in and shopping
Day 5 – drive to beach
Day 6 – sleep in and washing and movies at home
Day 7 – Prepare house and myself for back to work
