Business open late
Some companies are open 24 hours so you can call and organise your business – private or otherwise. Is it good that a business is open late?
Well, you would think so and this is why I thought about calling my insurance company late, however, not many staff were on so I was waiting for 26 minutes at 1.30am and then I disconnected the call. I do not normally make calls at this time, but I was surprised to have to wait so long. When I called back and said I had to wait for 26 minutes – the operator said did I want to call in the morning? (I think she meant in normal business hours)
So, then is it pointless that these companies advertise that they are available 24 hours if they are not really? Secondly, my call was not urgent, however, if it was, there was nobody to assist – the operator only takes and transfers calls.
Maybe these companies should put more effort into their daily operating hours and ensuring their customers are satisfied. I called several companies earlier today and the wait time was at least 10 minutes on three of my calls. The internet is available, but mainly for observing and not a lot of changes to policies etc can be done without the help of a ‘real’ person.

I hope they measure the number of people who just hang up and dont call back ie the number of lost customers! Positive may be that at least they arent sending your calls overseas like some others are now doing. I dont feel comfortable giving personal details to an overseas call centre!!!
Some companies offer a call back service which I have found quite useful.
I love pretending to snore when they finally come back on 🙂 The other night when they eventually answered my call I was in the middle of yelling at the kids – they thought I was yelling at them and took it very well – guess they are used to it?
I always find it is quicker to get thru on the new account number rather than the complaints or existing customer service hotline – Mmmmm?
