When something is cheap, good for you and easy to prepare, it doesn’t get any better than that! Good, old fashioned porridge (rolled oats) is the perfect choice for breakfast and if you like it plain, you can have it plain or you could add cinnamon, nuts and seeds, honey, maple syrup, brown sugar and more.
Another great thing about oats is you can prepare a huge batch of porridge to last the whole week and just add your extras on the day. You could use the stove to heat your portion up. Of course the microwave is an option, but use the stove sometimes or all of the time, if you can. Traditional rolled oats take about five minutes to prepare on the stove top and three minutes in the microwave. Instant oatmeal takes one to two minutes to prepare either in the microwave or by adding boiling water and letting the oats sit.Traditional oats are less processed than the instant ones.
Babies, toddler, kids, teens and mums and dads, can all have nutritious oats for a healthy start in the morning.
Oats has so many healthy benefits, such as helping fight heart disease, diabetes, cancers and more. Avoid buying the oats with added flavour, it is best to just add your own.
Start enjoying oats 3-5 times a week and the good start will make you and your family feel great. Oats can also be used in many other recipes, like smoothies, and muffins. Enjoy!
