How to raise an intelligent child
We all want our children to be intelligent and something parents need to do is give their kids the best possible chance ever. As parents it is our responsibility to raise a child in accordance with healthy living guidelines. Honestly, it is not rocket science.
Behavioural techniques, diet, sleep and education are the main skills we must teach our children.
With diet children must have three meals a day and these meals must include breads, cereals, meat, carbohydrates, vegetables and fruit. Children must also be active. Treats are okay but children must learn when treats are eaten and when they are not. As parents our children can only eat what we provide so the changes have to start with us.
Many tests are performed testing children who are sleep deprived verse healthy child sleeping habits.
Results showed generally that children who slept longer performed better. The general recommendation is that children between the ages of 7 and 11 get about 10 hours of nightly sleep.
Here are some handy tips:
- Allow children to fall asleep independently
- Make sure bed time is before 9 p.m.
- Have a bedtime routine (include reading)
- Help children avoid caffeine products
- Keep technology out of the bedroom
So in conclusion if a child is eating and sleeping well then their performance at school will be at its best.
Just for interest, here is a bit of a video about how to turn your baby into a genius:

No doubt we can see that the things that most harm our children are the TV, phone, computer. They do not care more for books. The children want to sleep later and later and unfortunately many parents allow this!

A balanced diet and sufficient sleep make a big difference to a child’s behaviour.

We as parents have huge responsibilities and it’s so damn sad seeing so many these days flick pass those responsibilities on to others! Not only do we have to ensure they are properly educated, disciplined, clothed, fed, housed and rested but, especially in the early years, their brains are in the best possible mode to “learn how to learn”. Before we send them to school we can set them up to want to learn and to have the ability to learn efficiently and effectively. Doing little things like reading to them, getting them to solve problems not just giving them the answers etc. But is so important to maintain balance and take an holistic approach. How many child prodigies or geniuses do we see who appear quite sickly, burdened by allergies, socially inadequate, unable to perform other basic tasks or who are physically underdeveloped???? Perhaps too much focus on brain development to the detriment of physical activitity, appropriate diet, sleep, social interaction or just plain old time to be a kid!!!!!!
Being heavily involved in a child sport it saddens me to see so many 12 year olds who cant throw, run, climb or even interact with team members and partake as a team memeber rather than an individual. These were all things most of us once picked up naturally as kids due to the environments we grew up in. Interestingly, many of these physically and socially inadequate kids also lack the motivation or desire to want to improve or learn. They won’t listen to coaches or take advice from team members. I have no doubt that they carry this attitude through their schooling and into their careers and relationships. To get back to your point, they are also constantly supplied with energy/sports drinks, consume copious volumes of junk food and talk incessantly about staying up all night playing stupid video games (as per your previous article: https://www.letsleepingblogslie.net/2012/05/15/kids-brag-about-staying-up/) !!!!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmmm ??????
