So, if an intruder is lurking around your house, the most sensible thing to do is to pretend you are asleep, but only if you are the only one in the house. If you have kids, you have to make sure they are safe. However, if you think the intruder is just about finished, do you just pray that your kids will stay asleep and you also pretend you are asleep until he/she leaves ?!!! Well, if someone is able to make such a decision, while a stranger lurks around – good luck!!!
I think the best way to handle a situation like the above is to lock your doors and windows and get a dog! Your dog doesn’t have to be ferocious, just have a bark if someone unwanted is nearing!!
1. Check the doors before you sleep ( I often shut the front door, but realise it isn’t locked).
2. Open the garage door to make sure your roller door/automatic door is down!
3. Don’t leave a door open for a pet – get a pet door.
4. If you have security screens it is safe to leave your windows open. If not, window locks are a good idea and it means the window can be open a little way. Make sure the window locks are strong (sometimes just a piece of wood will do and it is strong!).
