I have some tips for stopping bed wetting for good:
1. Night time pull-ups are great for stress-free periods.
2. Some kids are late bloomers and this is fine. Do not punish the child in any way. Go to your local doctor if you are concerned it is medical.
3. Visit the wearing undies and putting a protector on the bed 3 – 4 times a year (definitely from 6 years). Protectors can go over the made-up bed to make the middle of the night change easy. Have dry undies ready near the bed to help change and get the child back to sleep. Don’t enter into any fuss with the child – they may be cranky!
4. Talk about it in a positive way. A positive bond with your child in general will help.
5. Chiropractic sessions may work and maybe even as a placebo (if you are in a health fund – why not?).
6. Keep the subject private.
7. No drinking an hour before bed (ice if mouth is dry).
8, Must go to the toilet before bed and sit on the toilet (even if the child doesn’t feel like going).
9. Praise when your child is dry – go overboard!
10. Don’t make a big deal about accidents – it happens.
