We sleep as much as a third of our lives. And that is not a waste of our time, because sleeping is very important for both physical and mental recovery.
During sleep, all sorts of activities take place: restoring organs, such as muscle recovery. The brain also desperately needs that total rest to process all the impressions and information that have been gained during the day.
Deep sleep is the most important phase in the sleep cycle and when you are awakened from this phase you often feel completely disoriented. The sleeping phases one to four cover approximately 75 to 80 percent of the total night’s sleep.
So how might we give our body a little boost to get better quality sleep? Well with food of course. Check out the infographic below to learn how nutrition can improve our sleep quality.
