Okay so maybe you didn’t clean everything you wanted to today, but that’s not what I mean – I mean tidy the mind!
You can do the dishes or put the clothes away or vacuum tomorrow, but if your thoughts are not tidied before sleep, they will be with you tomorrow and interrupt your sleep and cause turmoil in your life – to put it simply.
Call it a form of meditation if you like or journaling or being with your higher power or God – actually this part is totally up to you. The main thing is that before you plan to sleep, you sit with the thought that’s bothering you, acknowledge and action it. Think about the ‘issue’ specifically for only 10 seconds and then spend time on how you plan to handle a situation like this tomorrow. Forgive yourself for what happened and plan to move forward.
Meditation in the morning is also positive to start your day; evening meditation though I argue is vital because your sleep won’t be interrupted by the thought running around in your head.
We have to control our unhelpful thoughts so they don’t take over.
Positive thoughts though about seeing the beautiful world, helping someone or praising them, being kind to yourself and others – are invaluable.
I guess the negative thoughts are a reminder that we are human and are infallible, but don’t let them just do what they want!
Good night.
