Find Your Natural Clock
Our internal biological clock sets both our days and nights into a certain rhythm. This is then controlled by your hormones and external cues. When you follow your natural clock, your waking time and the restorative nature of your sleeping hours are maximized. Unfortunately, our natural clock can be reset when we stick to an improper habit or sleep pattern even if our body is unwilling to follow suit. This is why you can become a night owl when needed, though our body will prefer to sleep earlier. As such, you can change or adjust your clock by sleeping earlier as needed and waking up at the right time.
Are You Getting Enough Sleep?
We have all been told that eight hours of sleep a night is necessary for an average adult. Though this may be true, it is more important that you sleep and wake up at the right time. Sleeping at 3am and then waking up at 11am will have a different effect compared to when you sleep at 9pm and wake up at 5am. When you wake up at 5am after having 8 long hours of sleep, you will have more energy and be more productive throughout the day. Whereas if you wake up at 11am after 8 hours of sleep, you will only feel lazy and irrational. Thus it is better to sleep between 9pm and 11pm.
Is Your Bedroom Fit To Sleep In?
Even if you have a bedtime routine, if your bedroom is not fit to sleep in, then do not count on getting the rest and sleep you need. Unfortunately, we often pay too much attention towards guest areas that we tend to neglect our own bedrooms. As a busy mom, you deserve to have a place to retreat to, where comfort and relaxation can be enjoyed. It pays off to have a music player for soothing music instead of a television inside a room. There may even be a problem with your bed. Many moms focus on the beds of their children that they forget to take care of their own. If you have a sagging and soft mattress, it is time for you to invest in a new one. Look for a bed that offers comfort and support for a hard working mom like you.
Stick To A Routine
Routines are extremely helpful for moms who have a handful of children to manage. They are also a great way of teaching children to follow rules and a routine themselves. When you stick to this routine you will find it easier to put your children to bed, have more time to clean up or work and sleep early.
