People don’t achieve what they want because of four main reasons. This is what is believed by Dr Phil Jauncey and this is one of the reasons he is regarded as Australia’s foremost Performance Psychologist.
Dr Jauncey is currently the sports psychologist with the Australian Baseball team and the Queensland Bulls Cricket team. For 14 years he was the mental skills coach with the Brisbane Lions AFL team (til 2008) and he was the sports psychologist with the Brisbane Broncos NRL team for 15 years, from 1993. He has also worked with actors and musicians and clients on an array of issues, such as depression, phobias, personal life issues, work etc.
His website is very helpful and insightful: http://www.philjauncey.com.au/
Dr Jauncey states that it doesn’t matter what you are achieving – personal habits, relationships, work, sport, study – there are four principles you must not do and four things you must do/or have.
He said if people believe in motivation, positive thinking, a good attitude or a good focus, they will be unsuccessful and fail.
Dr Jauncey said when someone isn’t achieving he asks himself why.
He said there are four reasons why someone isn’t achieving:
1. They don’t know what to do;
2. They don’t know how to do it;
3. They don’t have the resources;
4. They don’t want to.
Furthermore, Dr Jauncey said: “You don’t have to feel good to be successful, but when you are successful it feels good.”
