Dreams are a normal phenomenon but due to the year of Covid, people have had a new strain of dreams filled with fear and anxiety associated with the disease.
A psychology professor at Northumbria University and director of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research, Jason Ellis, said there is the evolutionary theory that states we use dreams to try out different scenarios in a safe environment that could be threatening in real life.
It has been reported that due to people drinking more during the pandemic, this can mean our brains are more active during sleep and this can also produce strange dreams.
Routines being out of order and binge watching tv can also lead to restless sleep.
Ellis said that since we know sleep issues can lead to depression or other health worries, we must try to obtain a pattern that is suitable to our new lifestyle.
