Tired scale balance
When people are constantly turning up tired at work and then sleeping around the place whilst at work – how healthy can these practices be??
We do not make good choices when we are tired. So if we are tired sometimes we become more tired and it is a sliding scale!
Do I iron that shirt or do I choose another? Do I get an easier haircut so it is quicker to style? Can my make-up be done on the train? Can my breakfast wait? Some choices are quite positive, but some are not. Do not sacrifice other health factors for sleep – find the balance.
I remember my very first job at 19, I was a cadet journalist, and I didn’t care about being tired at the job because I detested it. However, I realise now the effects it had on my work. By the afternoon I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I used to stay up late because I disliked my day so much that I wanted to enjoy my evening! I would exercise after work and this would wake me up, then I would go out with girlfriends and just potter and then I would repeat the cycle and go to bed at midnight and get up at 6am!
In hindsight, even though I wasn’t happy about my job, I made a poor choice, making my health also suffer.
