Sound familiar? A bit like: Do unto others… but just adapted for the current day! According to the International Telecommunications Union, nearly 200,000 texts a second are sent and this is why consideration needs to be taken when:
1. Sending a text: What should I text, when should I text, who should I text, do I need to reply again or will the person realise the texting is finished, is the tone okay, have I used too many emoticons, is it too late, is it too early, will I start with sorry or something lighter?
2. Receiving a text: Do I respond in a vague way or should I be direct? Shall I respond immediately, or is it okay to delay the text, do I send a quick text in the mean time? Is the person possibly waiting for a response?
The deciding factor needs to be about the other person. If you think the person is expecting a response and you are playing with their emotional strings, then it is extremely rude to delay. If you are not sure how to respond, then try something like:
Thanks for your text, I will respond in more detail after dinner.
I enjoyed our date too and I am glad you had a good time. I hope you understand that the connection is not quite right for me, but I do wish you every success in the future.
Yes I will bring that tomorrow. Goodnight.
I enjoyed our date too, thank you.
