Nobody wants an intruder lurking

July 11, 2014 By Shaz Fisher Leave a Comment

CrimeCrime happens all over the world and probably the most frightening is when people are home and asleep. It is ironic that camping is still a popular activity, but I guess it is the knowledge that mostly people are after our things and not us!

Some people feel safer than others and apparently some countries are definitely safer than others. It does depend on the list you look at – but four countries which kept popping up during my research were: Japan, Norway, Switzerland and New Zealand. There are probably several factors which contribute to these countries being safe. Nevertheless, it is crucial for people to work together in communities.

Scientists have now found that disruptions in sleep are hindering the creation of new memories, however, in the case of an intruder, a disruption may save your life.

A 34-year-old mother from Staffordshire in England had an intruder break into her home earlier this year and stab her in her side while she slept.

Mina Robinson went through four hours of surgery on February 4 and was in intensive care for several days before she recovered.

There are so many stories similar to Mina’s one and the big question is what do people do?

There are many suggestions on the internet regarding what to do if an intruder enters your home? Prevention is often the first rule:

1. Doors and windows locked and check before going to sleep.

2.  A security light, that comes on, when people get near your home.

3.  Dogs are often good when it comes to alerting you to bad activity.

4. The fourth check is to have your phone handy. If you live by yourself and you hear what sounds like a problem call the Police immediately and tell them what you hear. Let the Police guide you.
