5 simple steps to meditation
Sometimes just the thought of something new is stressful. Someone might say have you tried this and that and you just hear the gigantic word like ‘meditation’ and say: “ no and I don’t want to!”
While I have your attention…meditation is just a big word for stopping… to Stop and clear your mind and sit and breathe for a bit.
Try this simple technique:
1. Sit somewhere quiet.
2. Get comfortable.
3. Count to ten a few times and concentrate on your breathing only. Close your eyes if it helps you to relax.
4. Count each time you exhale.
5. Acknowledge thoughts and then let them go and concentrate on your breathing again.
Do it for as long as you feel you need to or time permits.
By acknowledging thoughts and letting go I mean: Let the thought enter and tell yourself: “I am in stop mode I will think about that in one hour.” If the thought needs more attention it will come back otherwise it will not.
This technique could be useful before sleep, before school or work, a meeting, an interview, or your day!
Embrace each and every day . Mediate in your own personal way… ‘stop’ at the computer and just sit and count and breathe!
