All that he needed to do was send a nice good night text and both partners would have had a blissful sleep. However, some people choose the most inconvenient times to send a rude, angry or hurtful text and it sets off emotions and the nice day ahead or sleep is ruined!
Well, do you want people having this kind of control over you?
If someone else chooses to be rude, angry or hurtful, you can actually decide how this effects you? You could go into a frantic state and text back something equally as rude and ignore them and delete all of their texts and every happy memory and be angry for days or weeks. The other option is you could take on board what they are saying, while remaining calm and let the information help you find out more about yourself.
If the text states: I don’t want to be around a person like you.
STOP and just see the text for what it is without reacting. Can I possibly understand how someone might see me that way? Wait for you answer – really think about it and close your eyes. Respond with: Thanks for letting me know that. You could be right.
NOW stop texting and think about how you feel. Did you feel stressed when you read the text? Is it true? If you felt stressed it means there is truth it what has been said. Is she wrong about me? I am wrong about her when I think she is wrong about me?!
When we are humble and accept our responsibility we stop trying to defend ourselves stressfully and we are at peace.
