Simply, if you are waking someone because you need comfort and support and it is important you discuss it now – and you can’t function without their support and there is no one else – then that is a reasonable reason why it is probably okay to wake someone. However, do not think the person should wake up and support you – remember they have been asleep – tread carefully and explain to them your dilemma that you need support. Take it easy and give the person time to get a grasp on what is going on! You also must accept it if the person can’t physically help you.
The next best thing might be to ring someone who is available or journal your thoughts and see if that helps you. Thinking about previous times when you have been upset and stressed and what helped you may also work. Remember to keep things in perspective and that going over the issue in your head is something to avoid.
